Marathons Throughout Thailand 2014
Mark your calendars! Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is promoting five outstanding running events in their Marathon Throughout Thailand 2014 campaign.
Khon Kaen International Marathon – January 26, 2014
The first major marathon of the year in Thailand offers one of the biggest cash awards. 2014 is the 11th edition of this event held in Khon Kaen, the capital of Isan (North-Eastern Thailand). Relatively flat course, Isan’s cooler January weather and prize money of up to 200,000 THB – expect a fast race.
Laguna Phuket International Marathon – June 8, 2014
“Run Paradise” is this race’s tagline. Well, Phuket is a popular beach destination and the course through pineapple and rubber plantations is pretty scenic. 2014 will be the 9th time of this race well-organized marathon event.
King’s Cup Pattaya Marathon – July 20, 2014
Pattaya Marathon is another marathon held in a beach destination. The race attracts runners from all over the world, including professionals competing for the top spots and the prize money.
17th Charity Midnight Run – October 18, 2014
A race through the streets of central Bangkok, starting at midnight. The event, organized by Amari Watergate and BMW Thailand, has gained popularity with more than 7,000 sign-ups 2013. All proceeds from this 6km and 12km event are donated to charity.
Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon – November 16, 2014
The capital offers lots of running events all through the year and Bangkok Marathon is the largest one of them. Start and finish is in front of the Grand Palace and the race route passes some historical sites and Bangkok landmarks, but a good part of the marathon is also spent on the highway as well.
