Midnight Run & Run for Social Care
I’m double racing this weekend, i.e. first do the Amari Charity Midnight 12k Run and then a few hours later run 11k at the Walk & Run for Social Care. Will be an interesting Saturday night and Sunday morning!
As the name suggests, the Charity Midnight Run starts at midnight, between Saturday and Sunday. Start and finish is in the Pratunam area in central Bangkok. The Social Care race starts at 6 AM on Sunday morning. Race venue is Lumpini Park, a 10-minute run from Pratunam.
Have never run it myself, but I’ve heard a lot about previous years’ Amari Midnight races and it seems to be a happening different from most other races. (Read what last year’s winner, Bryan Marotta, says about the race)
It’s a charity race, the proceeds go to Baht for a Better Life, Chalerm Prakiat School – Lampoom and Baan Gerda Lopburi. 2012’s event attracted 5,000 runners and raised 3.3 million Baht, let’s try to top that this year! 2012’s male winner finished with a time of 40:53, let’s try to top that this year!
The Run for Social Care is next, a 11k race in Lumpini Park. This is a smaller event with registration on-site starting from 5 AM on Sunday morning.
Other races this weekend are the Run for Family race in Nonthaburi and the Nong E Yo Super Mini Marathon (หนองอียอ ซุปเปอร์มินิมาราธอน) in Surin. Run Thailand is reporting from all mentioned races but the latter one. If anyone is running in Surin on Sunday, feel free to send a race review to info@runthailand.com.
Have a nice weekend!
