My Thailand Races 2013
Time to summarize the running year of 2013. My year started slow due to injuries but then it took off and I had a good second half of the year. What are your best running memories from 2013?

My Thailand Races 2013
Jan 27: KhonKaen International Marathon, 11.5k
Jogged through the mini marathon (11.5k) due to an unclear but stubborn abdominal injury.
Apr 6, 2013: Chakri Day Run 2013, 10k
Back in decent shape. Arrived too late to the start, wasn’t quite able to caught the leaders up but grabbed 5th place. The trophy remains uncollected as I had to hurry up and run back home.
May 4, 2013: d-tac Coronation Day Mini Marathon, 10k
A “smash and grab victory”, i.e. run to the race venue, win the race and then run back home with a bulky trophy under your arm.
May 31, 2013: Sundown Marathon (Singapore), 21k
Wanted to see if I was back where I wanted to be. Got second place (after a Kenyan as usual) in 1.13.47. My first ever midnight race. Ok result.
Jun 9, 2013: Singha Bangkok 14K Run 2013, 14k
Arrived late to the start again, but I closed the 2-minute gap early in race and took first place.
Jun 23, 2013: Twinlotus Mini-Half Marathon 2013, 21k
Tough race indeed. Heavy legs and an emergency pit-stop 18k into the race. Got third place anyway, beaten by two Kenyans.
Jul 7, 2013: The Rainbow Run #2, 10k
A non-competitive charity run. I ran the four loops in Lumpini Park fast nevertheless. A fun event for a good cause.
Aug 4, 2013: Bangkok Post International Run 2013, 10k
Injured (groin). I strolled through the race with some friends.
Aug 12, 2013: 12 August Half Marathon Bangkok 2013, 21k
Still injury problems. Had decided to do an easy half marathon, but as the race proceeded I couldn’t hold back as much as I planned (and probably should). Finished in 1.17, much faster than I planned for.
Sep 1, 2013: EGAT Mini Marathon 2013, 11k
I took the lead and set the pace through the whole race. “Mr shadow” was one step behind me all the way and passed me with 500m before the finish line.
Sep 15, 2013: River Kwai Half Marathon 2013, 21k
Uncertain about my status after two months of injury problems. Had a good run and I got what I came for; my forth consecutive River Kwai victory. Pleased with finishing half a minute faster than the previous year, it meant I was back in business.
Sep 29, 2013: Central Retail Mini Marathon 2013, 11k
Faced “Mr Shadow” again, but this time I was in better shape and had learned my lesson. I set up a pace neither he nor anyone else could keep. First place.
Oct 6, 2013: Vertical Marathon 2013, 61 floors
Forth time running this race and its 1093 steps up to the rooftop of Banyan Tree. Third time in a row winning it and I set a new personal best of 6.31. Also finished second in the relay together with Team Brooks.
Oct 19, 2013: The 16th Charity Midnight Run 2013, 12k
Interesting, fun and different race, running through the traffic of central Bangkok in the middle of the night. First place.
Oct 20, 2013: Walk and Run for Social Care, 11k
Tough 11k race as I ran the midnight run less than six hours earlier and didn’t sleep in between. Struggled and managed to grab my second victory of the weekend.
Nov 17, 2013: Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon 2013, 42k
This marathon had been the main target since a few months back. Was aiming to improve my marathon PB of 2.33. I set the pace the first 30k, but couldn’t keep it up over the last 5k. Second place in 2.31.
Dec 22, 2013: Chiang Mai Marathon 2013, 21k
Wasn’t feeling well so I ran with my father-in-law who was aiming for a 1.45 half marathon. Mission completed, did the 21.1k in 1.45.
Henrik great year! My favorites of 2013 were the Khao Yai Half in March and there was a first time half marathon in Amphawa with a few hundred runners that was well done and a lot of fun. Happy New Year. See you out there!
What a fantastic year for running Henrik, well done!
I imagine you’ve seen this Thai Tourism video … you appear several times

Have a great 2014.

Thanks Joe and Iain and Happy New Year to you!
Sounds like great races Joe. I plan to go to both Khao Yai and Amphawa this year, but maybe for some other runs.
Yup, I’ve seen the video Iain…

Henrik SootYot !!
ขอบคุณมากครับ Em!
My top of the 2013 is that I broke the sub 35 min/10k line. 34:14 at DM 10000m in Borås.
Cheers!
