Route: BTS Onnut to Nong Bon Reservoir.
(Route – Nong Bon Reservoir Loop)

Distance: 12km to the beautiful reservoir (run can be linked into Nong Bon Reservoir Loop, finishing in Rama 9 park).

Brief description: Flat, some street running on Onnut Road but mostly khlong paths and smaller soi streets. Always beware of tripping on speed bumps on khlong paths.

Getting there: Start from BTS Onnut exit 3.

GPS cords: 13.705522, 100.600960

What to bring: BTS card. Depending on how you intend to return to the start of the run or the BTS system, you may need a taxi fare (max 70-100 baht) from the Rama 9 park to Udomsuk BTS or a songthaew fare along Onnut road if you run back there ( Food/drink: Some places to refuel but good to carry a little water. It is good to support the little shops along the canal if possible. There is an S&P coffee shop in Rama 9 park, on the lake.

Let’s go!: From BTS Onnut, head south and take Siri Phot alley (1st left) to the end, following it round left then right then left again and onto Onnut Road (Sukhumvit soi 77). Once you can cross safely to the odd side, do so and then take soi 25 which has a temple entrance above it. A left turn after 150m will take you onto the khlong path at the end (turn right). Continue this path for about 3km, passing over khlong Khlet and San Chao which are both marked in English. Take the little road next to khlong Khun Sakon and follow it back to Onnut road, where you can cross and join the khlong path safely. Follow this new path (either side) straight along for 900m until you reach pink buildings on the right and a carpark you can jump down to on the left, 100m before a road which crosses above the khlong. This soi takes you to Srinagarindra Rd. where you can cross the footbridge and go down to Ta Sat, the next khlong, taking this khlong path left. To avoid running down the main road, take a left then right down Onnut 64 alley which is parallel to Srinagarindra Rd.

This is a short path and 50m before the fork, you will need to take a grass path on the left to access the bridge over to soi Onnut 66 alley lane 25 as you cannot get on the bridge from the khlong. After the bridge, pass a little shop and go to soi Onnut 66 alley, lane 19-12 where you turn right, heading south. Then take the 3rd right and then a left turn will take you across the Makhem Thet khlong and into the circuit of the reservoir. Enjoy the surroundings, before heading back or link this run to “Nong Bon Reservoir Loop” run by turning right looping round the lake, past the sailing club and out onto the road, right turn, then right again to finish in the stunning Suan Luang Rama 9 park. At this entrance, there are vans to BTS Udomsuk (approx.. 20baht) or taxis.
