Walk and Run for Social Care 2013 – Review
Finishing the Midnight Run in 38 minutes gave me 5 hours and 22 minutes to get ready for the Walk & Run For Social Care which started at 6 AM in Lumpini park. Couldn’t sleep between the races, so I was already awake when the alarm went off at 5 AM.
Registration 25 minutes prior start was trouble-free, several race officials on-site to assist the 500-600(?) runners who came to start. Nothing to complain about organisation wise.
The race took off and I felt that the “kick” in my legs wasn’t there, but I was surprisingly comfortable running at 3.25 minute/km. As I didn’t have the power to switch the speed down up and down, which probably helped me to a rather evenly paced race. I grabbed my second win of the day finishing the 11.4 km in 38.30. Ran at an average speed of 3.23 min/km and I think all splits were within a 10-second range. Indeed different from the midnight race where I ran faster but with too uneven split times.
Khun Suwari who won the female’s midnight run was doing the double as well. She repeated the success and won the Social Care race too.
Another double racer was my friend “Maz the Machine”. He finished 7th in the Midnight’s overall (wearing a full monkey costume) and then 6th in the Social Care race.
Wow, imponerande!
