Run Thailand Updates – October 2014
Q3 of 2014 was wrapped up with a new marathon world record in Berlin and a bunch of races in Thailand. Thailand offers running events all through the year, but October is when the season really kicks off. Some weekends/Sundays are busier than others. October the 12th for instance, is probably one of the most packed race days of 2014’s Thai running calendar. A few of October’s highlights:
October 12
- Khao Yai Trail Marathon – Great interest in the first edition of this trail marathon. Registration closed!
- The 10th Hotel Charity Run – A popular 10k charity run in Bangkok organized by several hotels.
- Ronald McDonald House Charities Mini Marathon – Run for kids… and burgers. 3.5k and 10k, Bangkok
- Empire Tower We Run – New half marathon in town! Well promoted, many sign-ups, registration closed!. 4k-21k, Bangkok.
October 18
- Amari Watergate Charity Midnight Run – Run the streets of Bangkok in the middle of the night. Crazy but fun event! 6k and 12k.
- Thailand Ultramarathon 100 km – Beautiful jungle route in Mae Hong Son. 100k, 5000 meters elevation gain – another crazy race!
October 23
- Unique Running Ekiden Relay – a fun team event in Bangkok inspired by the Japanese long-distance relays called Ekiden.
October 25
- Thailand Ultramarathon 50 km – for all you slackers who think one 50k loop through the hilly jungles in Mae Hong Son is enough.
