Thailand Marathon Events Dec 7-8

Beginning of December has been absolutely packed with marathons, half marathons, mini marathons and all kinds of running events in Thailand. There were many races in Thailand last weekend as well.

Chiang Mai is really positioning itself as Thailand’s running Mecca. Several well organized events, a growing running community and great temperature for running this time of the year. Saturday’s Technic Chiang Mai Mini Marathon and Sunday’s Cowboy Mini Marathon are two examples of enjoyable races, well worth the modest entry fees.

PTTGC-UBE Rayong Marathon is a smaller event compared to the Rayong PTT Marathon which took place the other month. This marathon on the other hand, takes runners along the beach and its race course is the more scenic of the two.

In Sisaket in the northeastern Thailand (Isan), Khao Phra Wihan Run featured distances up to a half marathon. Very hilly and tough course, Kenyan winners in both the men’s and women’s races. This was the 17th edition of the race, but according to my reports there is still work to be done organization-wise.

Interesting races the weekend ahead too, including the Ayutthaya Marathon.
