The Weekend Ahead
While some of us are doing the Vertical Marathon, there are also horizontal races on Sunday October the 6th.
Bangkokians can choose between two 10k races this weekend. The Comptroller General’s Department Mini Marathon at the Government Complex in Cheang Wattana offers distances of 2.6k, 5.46k and 10.5k. (Great opportunity for a new 5.46 kilometer PB!) Cash awards (up to 3,000THB) for those of you aiming for top spots. Suan Luang Rama 9 Park is hosting the Thai Senior Citizens Council Walk-Run featuring 2 and 10k runs.
A two-hour drive from Bangkok, in Kanchanaburi Province, the Mettatham Charity Mini-Half Marathon is held. Distances of 3.5k up to a half marathon are available along a scenic but rather demanding course.
In Chonburi Province, the MSIG Ao Udom – Laem Chabang Mini Marathon starts at 6 AM. 3k and 10.5k are offered. At the same time in the southern part of Thailand, the Phatthalung Mini Marathon & Fun Run takes place.
Since both the Thai Senior Citizens and the Comptroller start at 6 AM and the Banyan Tree Vertical race starts at 8 AM, it’s possible to do a double race morning. I was tempted to do so, but decided a 61-floor run is enough. Is anyone doing the double?
